Nepetalactone is the organic compound in catnip that makes felines flip the fuck out.
Nepetalactone is an organic compound, first isolated from the plant catnip (Nepeta cataria), which acts as a cat attractant. Nepetalactone is bicyclic monoterpenoid, i.e., it is a ten-carbon compound derived from isoprene with two fused rings: a cyclopentane and a lactone. The compound is also present in the wood of tartarian honeysuckle (Lonicera tatarica), shavings of which are often used in cat toys.
Perhaps even more interesting than a cat's reaction to catnip is the attraction of certain groups of people to our nepetalactone molecule shirt. Besides the large body of (seemingly) innocent cat aficionados, this design has been requested over and over again by cosplayers, fursuiters, and silly Japanese girls. So, the perfectly designed customer would have to be an Asian cat hoarder with a modicum of disposable income who also enjoys roleplay. Do you think there's anyone out there like that who also has an internet connection?
Indeed, the catnip molecule is one of our most popular Molecule Wear™ shirts.
And Bob, if you're reading this, I still think your cat is an asshole, with or without catnip.
